Yummy Thai food

So I been making Thai food more now, since the idea of moving and living in Thailand seems like a fun and wild idea.

Ingredients
1 tablespoon peanut oil
2 tablespoons minced peeled fresh ginger
2 garlic cloves, minced
3 tablespoons Asian sesame oil
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon (or more) hot chili oil*
1 1/2 teaspoons salt

1 pound fresh Chinese egg noodles or fresh angel hair pasta
12 green onions (white and pale green parts only), thinly sliced
1/2 cup coarsely chopped roasted peanuts
1/4 cup thinly sliced fresh Thai basil leaves
*Available in the Asian foods section of many supermarkets and at Asian markets.
Preparation
Heat peanut oil in small skillet over medium heat. Add ginger and garlic; sauté 1 minute. Transfer to large bowl. Add next 6 ingredients; whisk to blend.
Place noodles in sieve over sink. Separate noodles with fingers and shake to remove excess starch. Cook in large pot of boiling salted water until just tender, stirring occasionally. Drain and rinse under cold water until cool. Drain thoroughly and transfer to bowl with sauce. Add sliced green onions and toss to coat noodles. Let stand at room temperature until noodles have absorbed dressing, tossing occasionally, about 1 hour. Stir in peanuts and Thai basil; toss again. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve at room temperature.

Winter skin care

Here are some products and tips to help you win the battle against dry winter skin and dull complexion (via Em from hip hip gin gin):

1. Josie Maran Argan Oil Moisturizing Stick is perfect for any area that needs a little extra moisture, lips, cheeks, elbows, what have you. I especially love it for the tops of my hands (which get very dry) since I can slather it on without making my fingertips too oily to type with.
2. Fresh Rose Hydrating Face Mask, smells divine and will make your face soft and lovely without breakouts. There are little bits of rose petals right in the mask so you can enjoy fresh blooms even on the snowiest days.
3. Try to resist the urge to eat this Fresh Sugar Lip Polish, it is delicious and will quickly take care of any flakiness so you can show off that fabulous red lipstick
4. Jurlique Lavender Hydrating Mist will save you from the dry indoor air, you can spray it right on top of your makeup (to prevent smudging spray it up into the air and let if fall on your face) and it smells lovely (lavender is calming, especially nice for those long, stressful days).
5. A great exfoliant is an absolute necessity (flaky skin can never be re-hydrated the only option is to slough it off and start anew) and this Caudalie Merlot Friction Scrub will leave your skin positively glowing.
6. Kiehl’s Creme de Corps is a classic for a reason, it will leave even the driest skin soft and comfortable in no time. I tend to find it a bit too thick for daytime (it takes a bit to sink in, and if I waited to get dressed I fear I would freeze to death) so I apply a generous layer before I hop into bed and wake up to perfectly soft skin.
7. Sephora Lavender Cuticle Oil Pen, I have one of these at my desk, in my purse and at my bedside. Dry cuticles can be painful so I am always drawing little half moons of this oil on my tips. Bonus: moisturized nail polish stays chip free longer so you can indulge in those dark winter shades to your hearts delight.
And lastly, here is my completely un-glamorous, but very effective emergency dry skin tip: if the situation becomes dire (read: red, painful, cracking skin that nothing seems to help) swipe a layer of Calendula Gel on the area, let dry, and top with the thickest cream of your choice ( I usually use Eucerin Cream). I usually do this overnight, and about three nights later all is well again. (via hip hip gin gin)

Superbowl party food!

Superbowl food is as important as the game, and besides chips and dip and veggies, you need good buffet of yummy treats for your pals. Heres a few of my favorites. Have a great superbowl!

Flatbread Pizza With Feta, Mint, and Lemon Zest

1 can pizza dough (I use Pillsbury)
Olive oil
1 garlic clove, halved
1 c. feta cheese
¼ c. grated Parmesan cheese
3 T minced fresh mint
1 T lemon zest
Red-chili-pepper flakes.

Stretch dough into a large rectangle. Cut in half. Drizzle both with olive oil, and bake on greased sheet at 450 degrees until golden brown, about 10 minutes. While hot, rub each flatbread with garlic. Top with feta and Parmesan, and bake until melted, about 3 minutes. Remove and sprinkle with mint, zest, and a few shakes of chili-pepper flakes.

Sweet-and-Sour Drumettes

They're much easier to eat than wings, but still have some wipes on hand for sticky fingers.

2 pounds chicken drumettes (ask your butcher to cut them for you)
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
¼ cup barbecue sauce
¼ cup French dressing
1 tablespoon red-wine vinegar
Dash of hot sauce (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Season chicken with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown chicken in batches (don't overcrowd the pan), about 3 minutes on each side. Transfer drumettes to a baking dish. Then combine butter, barbecue sauce, dressing, vinegar, and hot sauce. Microwave until butter is melted. Stir. Pour sauce over chicken, and toss to coat evenly. Bake for 15 minutes.

Chinese Five-Spice Popcorn

I like to make this popcorn ahead of time. After it cools, I put it in Chinese take-out boxes for a scrumptious movie snack.

1/2 c. popcorn kernels
2 T canola oil
2 T sugar
1 T Chinese five-spice powder (available in most grocery stores)
1 t. salt
1 T unsalted butter, melted
Combine corn, oil, sugar, five-spice powder, and salt in a pot with a tight-fitting lid over medium heat. When corn begins to pop, turn heat to medium-low. Shake constantly until popping slows. Remove from heat (careful — it can burn easily), transfer to bowl, and drizzle with butter.

And my favorite Superbowl snack I now love making is Peanut-Butter-Cup Brownies

1 box brownie mix
16 peanut-butter cups (like Reese's)

Prepare brownie-mix batter according to package instructions. Pour half of the brownie batter into a 9-inch by 9-inch baking dish. Top with peanut-butter cups. Spread the remaining half of the brownie batter evenly over peanut-butter cups. Bake according to package instructions. Let cool completely, and then cut into squares.

Also try marinating olives in fresh herbs and chili-pepper flakes.
Season nuts with chili powder, and toast lightly.

A few good drinks: Greyhound
Think a screwdriver, but with more kick.
Ingredients: 2 oz vodka and 5 oz grapefruit juice
Instructions: Put ice in a glass, and pour vodka and grapefruit juice over it. Stir well.

Malibu Coconutini1 oz. Malibu rum
1 oz. Irish cream
1 oz. chocolate liqueur

Put all the ingredients in a shaker, add ice, and shake. Drizzle chocolate syrup along the inside of a glass, and then add the beverage. Garnish with a chocolate lollipop.

I start my mornings off well by having a good cup of hot tea. I go for Earl Grey or an Irish black tea. For Herbal I love peach flavor and Peppermint. I own many vintage tea sets and love to get them out for a tea party now and then.

Beso.com - great place for fashion finds

I been doing some online shopping, and recently discovered Beso.com. I love the jewelry collection. The site features two of my favorite brands Max & Chloe and House of Harlow. Theres so many awesome finds and deals. Be sure to check Beso out for great fashion finds.

I fell in love with the ring collection, such as the Silver Fleur De Lys Double Ring from Max & Chloe and the House of Harlow 1960 Horseshoe Stack Ring in Gold. I also like house of harlow 1960 necklaces, and picked out the House of Harlow 1960 Large Horseshoe Necklace in Gold which can be found at http://www.beso.com/necklaces-pendants/house-of-harlow-1960-259-773011?start=55 . I like this necklace as it matches really well with the Horseshoe Stack Rings in gold also from House of Harlow.
